We are consulting on the draft of our revised strategy for UK nuclear decommissioning and would like to hear from communities around our sites, the supply chain, unions, employees across the estate, academics and researchers, regulators, and many others.
In mid-January, around 60 stakeholders attended an event in Manchester to hear more about our proposals.
There were sessions on research and development, managing waste, developing skills, international relations, stakeholder engagement, site decommissioning and remediation. We received a good mix of questions and feedback which will be used to draw up the final strategy which is due to be published by 1 April 2016.
I also had the opportunity to speak at the event about the changes since our last strategy which was published in 2011. It was helpful to hear about the issues which are important to different stakeholders and I look forward to receiving more feedback during the consultation.
Our final strategy will be reflected in site plans, so this is your chance to influence various aspects of how we approach our mission.
