Dr Sam King - Head of Technical Strategy at Radioactive Waste Management

Samantha King is currently Head of Technical Strategy at RWM. In this role she is Deputy Technical Director responsible for integrating across engineering, safety, research and requirements and programme functions, transformation and stakeholder engagement.

Sam has BSc. in Physics and Chemistry and PhD in Chemistry from Manchester University and 20 years’ experience in the radioactive waste management.

Sam has worked on a number of international projects with other radioactive waste management organisations around the world. Sam has recently led reviews of the transferability of technology developed internationally to the UK as part of RWM’s collaboration work to learn from the experience of other geological disposal programmes.

Sam is a Chartered Chemist, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics. She is passionate about creating the environment for everyone to perform at their best and a champion of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. Sam is married with 2 boys that keep her fully entertained and busy with sports and other social activities. In her spare time, Sam enjoys running, Pilates and arts and crafts.
